Card Samples from Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog
Hi there My Stamping Friends, Several weeks ago I was able to attend a Stampin' Up! demo-only shoebox swap that was put together by my friends Robin Merriman and Kimberly Van Diepen. I haven't done a shoebox swap in a while and this one reminded me how much fun they are. "Whats a shoebox swap", you ask? Well, each person creates a card and brings enough supplies for every attendee to make the card. So if 25 people sign up, everyone brings a 'shoebox' full of supplies for 25 copies of thier own card and they get to sit and make one of every other card that people bring. Everyone goes home with 24 new cards (you don't need to make one of your own).
I came home with some fantastic cards and I thought I show them to you! I'm not sure that I have a name to go with every card but I'll do my best. If you see yours just let me know and I'll give you credit.
I still have some more to post but that will be for another day. Hope you enjoyed the cards and got lots of ideas of what you can do with these awesome stamps.
Have a fantastic day!
Rose-Ellen

Carol Snow used Easter Blossoms for this cheery card.
Jaimie Gvozdas used her BIG SHOT and Beautiful Wings embosslit die for this one.
Keisha Smith used her BIG SHOT and Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit die.
Kelley Dionne used Just Believe and Word Window and Modern Label Punches
Kristin Davis used the Build a Cupcake punch for the flower pot (isn't that adorable!) and Always Elegant and Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. She added in the Scallop Trim Border punch as well as the Modern Label and Word Window punches.
Lindsay Gardner used the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set for her card.
Lisa Freeman used her Big Shot with her scallop square die and Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder,
Phyllis Johnson used the designer paper that was available in April as a special sneek peek. It will be in the 2011 Idea Book and Catalog starting July 1.
This stamper used used her BIG SHOT and Beautiful Wings embosslit die as well. Very pretty, right?
Nancy Clark made this one. This is the first time I tried this technique and I LOVE it! She used her Big Shot, star punch and square lattice embossing folder.
Have a fantastic day!

Happy Birthday Greetings using Bring on the Cake from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini
Hi there My Stamping Friends, Yesterday was my daughters 11th birthday and just look what coincidentally came in the mail for me a few days ago from my wonderful up-up-up-up-upline Carol. Carol creates and sends out sample cards to her downline group to celebrate certain milestones and this was the card she sent to me. Isn't it fantastic?
The base is daffodil delight with a layer of whisper white that was run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice embossing folder. The next layer is cherry cobbler and a piece of whisper white stamped with the Level 2 Hostess set, Long Fellows, and the Bring On the Cake stamp set from the Occasions Mini (which is only available for a few more days - it ends on April 30, 2011). Carol colored the stamp set and sentiment with a daffodil delight marker and wrapped that layer with a daffodil delight 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon. It is so bright and cheery and I just love it. Thanks Carol!!!
Now, I'm off to work on a class using the new simply scrappin kit called Playful Polka Dots, from the new Summer Mini Catalog. Keep you're eyes open for the upcoming dates on my calendar. Oh, and speaking of my calendar, the date for my regular first Thursday card class for May has been backed up a few days to Tuesday, May 3rd at 7:30. Please make sure to RSVP so I'll have enough supplies for you. I hope you can join us.
Have a fantastic day!

Happy Easter and Stampin' Up! Easter Blossoms
Happy Easter My Stamping Friends, I hope you had a wonderful Easter celebration. My family spent a spectacular morning at church, enjoyed a high-energy Easter egg hunt, had a wonderful brunch, some outdoor playtime enjoying the amazing weather and then celebrated dinner with our friends. All in all it was a fantastic day! Here are a few photos for you to enjoy.
For this Easter card I used the Stampin' Up! Easter Blossoms stamp set on very vanilla cardstock that I cut out with the Stampin' Up! Exclusive Top Note shape using my Big Shot. I stamped the images using Pear Pizzazz, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red and Bashful Blue classic ink. A daffodil delight grosgrain ribbon and a glue dot finished off this simple card. I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.
Have a great day,
Rose-Ellen

Wedding Cards using the Sizzix Big Shot and Stampin' Up embossing folders
Hi there My Stamping Friends, Today I'm going to share two Stampin' Up! wedding cards that I made for two friends who found out they were attending the same wedding last weekend.
The first idea came pretty easily as I have seen similiar cards swapped at lots of Stampin' Up! events that I've attended and I've seen similiar cards posted on Stampin' Connection (which is a Stampin' Up! demo-only web forum ~ let me know if you want to join my Stampin' Up! team and we can chat about how you can get access to Stampin' Connection and so much more!). My card was inspired by a fellow Stampin' Up! demo, Stephanie Sullivan. I just changed it up a bit to fit my/the betrothed's needs.
For this card I used basic black and whisper white cardstock for the base and layer. I used the full heart punch for the tuxedos, the Big Shot with the perfect polka dots embossing folder for the background, the modern label punch and the word window punch and Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment. I made the tuxedos stand out by using a layer of brushed silver cardstock that I ran through the Big Shot with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit die. Too cute! The left side is finished off with some 5/8th inch whisper white organza ribbon.
To the Newlyweds: T & M, Congratulations on your wedding. I hope you have a long, wonderful, joyous life together and I hope all your dreams come true!
For all My Stamping Friends: I hope you all enjoyed the cards and find some of your own inspiration in them. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the cards.

The second card was sooooo much fun to make. I had an idea that I was going to make a wedding cake card and when I ran that idea by my friend Michelle (who was attending the wedding) she mentioned that the friend getting married was actually a professional cake maker (I guess we both are now, tee hee hee). When the stars align like that you just can't go wrong. So here is the card that I made for her to give the newlyweds.
For this card I used the Big Shot with the Petals-A-Plenty , Perfect Polka Dots, and Elegant Bouquet embossing folders to make the cake layers. I used the Scallop Trim Border punch for the red decorative icing, the small heart punch for the decorations on each layer and for the tuxedos. I used Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment and the Sweetheart stamp set for the arch on the cake and as a design on the envelope.
For all My Stamping Friends: I hope you all enjoyed the cards and find some of your own inspiration in them. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the cards.

Happy Birthday to ME from Stampin' Up! and to YOU from ME
I LOVE working with Stampin' Up! (notice I didn't say FOR them, but WITH them).
Today is MY BIRTHDAY and Stampin' Up! sent me a birthday gift!!! But not just ANY gift....its a gift that I really want. Let me tell you what I mean. At the beginning of the month, I got a card from Stampin' Up! made with our My Digital Studio software (cool card, right?).
So inside the card was a note to me that I can pick any item from any current catalog and get 15% discount off that item. If I needed another Big Shot (I don't, but I seriously considered it!) I can get it for 15% off. If I wanted the whole bundle of clear blocks I could get that at 15% off. Or if I wanted the entire set of Many Marvelous Markers...yup, you guessed it....15% off. I thought that was such a fantastic gift. Letting me choose what I wanted and giving me a discount on that item. Awesome idea Stampin' Up!
Sooooooo, since I'm having such a great day and I want to share my birthday with all of My Stamping Friends I'm going to extend the same offer to you - two ways.
1) If you call or e-mail me (StampingWithRose-Ellen@cox.net) to place an order today I'll give you 15% off one item as a Happy Birthday to ME!!!! This discount is coming through me, not Stampin' Up!, so if you place the order on-line at my website http://www.roseelleneastman.stampinup.net/ the discount won't work. In order to get around that I'll reimburse you 15% of your most expensive item for any order placed online by midnight tonight (April 12th - cause its MY BIRTHDAY!!)
2) E-mail me and let me know YOUR birthday (no, I don't need the year, just the month and day) and when it gets to be YOUR birthday you can take 15% off something too! I'll send you a reminder as we get closer to your birthday, but if you don't get the reminder for some reason, you can just let me know and still get the discount.
3) If you REALLY want to make my birthday special by joining my team, I'd love to chat with you about it. I can answer any quesitons you have and can tell you all the perks (including a monthly magazine, access to a Stampin' Up! website with 125,000+ samples using Stampin' Up! products, my monthly team gatherings, lots of stamping fun, swaps and much more). Give me a call and we can chat.
I hope you have as wonderful a day as I'm having. It started with a text from one of my sisters (Thanks for being first Caitlin) , more texts and facebook messages, breakfast in bed from my eldest, handmade cards from my daughters with wonderful messages inside, a pretty decent rainstorm (LOVE IT!!) and now I'm off to the gym. My 'reward' for getting through the gym with a sore back today is that I get to dig in to the boxes that my UPS man left for me last night.

What a way to spend the day. I hope you enjoy yours,
Rose-Ellen
P.S. If you felt like leaving me a comment wishing me a Happy Birthday I wouldn't mind it one little bit (tee hee hee).

Tomorrow and over the next few days I'll be posting several cards that I made at a shoebox swap last week. I'll also be posting a surprise about birthday presents!! Make sure to come back for a visit and to find out the details.
If you're in the VA, MD or Washington DC area I'd love to visit you in person and show you and your friends how to make some wonderful projects. If you have an hour or two and want to get together with your friends and family to have some fun, let me know. We can pick a date that works for everyone and we can meet at your house or my studio.
Have a great stamping day,

Artistic Etchings from Stampin' Up!
Good Morning My Stamping Friends, Last week I wanted to play with my Artistic Etchings stamp set from Stampin' Up! and was browsing the web looking for some sample cards to use as ideas and inspiration. Well, I found a card that I loved so much I had to make a version of it. It was just what I was looking for; clean, simple and beautiful.
I decided to post the card today and when I went looking for it online to give the original card maker credit, I found out it was made by my friend Robin Merriman. How funny is that! What a coincidence. She inspires me even when I don't know that its her card!! You can find her original card by clicking here and my card is below.
The base of the card is chocolate chip and the layer is confetti cream. I used the Artistic Etchings stamp set and the following ink colors: chocolate chip, daffodil delight, pear pizzazz, marina mist (I stamped off first) and pretty in pink. I also wrapped one strip of 1/8th inch taffeta ribbon (daffodil delight) around the front layer of the card. It turned out exactly how I saw it in my mind's eye (and that is rare!) and I love it. Hope you do to. Leave a comment and let me know.
Don't forget that Stampin' Up!'s Sale-A-Bration promotion is ending at the end of March. If you want to order a few things and get FREE stamps just call me or e-mail me and let me know. Or, if you prefer to order on your own 24/7 just visit my website at http://www.roseelleneastman.stampinup.net/
If you want to host a private stamping event with you and your friends I'd be happy to help you out with that too. You can even request certain stamp sets or techniques. I want to teach you what you want to learn.

Playing Catch Up...with My Stamping Friends - Bliss
Hi there My Stamping Friends, I hope you are all ready for Spring!! I'm so excited. Yesterday the weather here got up to a wonderful 78 degrees and I felt like I was in heaven while I was sitting on the back deck watching all the kids run around the yard. What fun!
Don't forget that Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31, 2011. Right now you can still get a free stamp-set of your choice for every $50 you spend. If you live in the DC, MD or VA area and would like to schedule a workshop, I'd be happy to come over and show you and your friends a few little tricks.
So, whats been going on with you?? Leave a comment and let me know.
So, I thought I'd catch you all up on whats been going on since my last post. Some of it was great and some of it not-so-great. I'll start out with the not so great stuff and move on to the happier news. My Aunt passed away in the end of February (about 5 weeks after my uncle, her brother, passed away). It was very sad, especially for my dad who now has no siblings left (they were a family of 7!). I come from a large family also (there are 8 of us) and I can't imagine what it feels like to lose your last two siblings so close together. My Dad is one of the most amazing men I know (I married the other most amazing man I know, and am a daughter-in-law to the third man in that category) and my heart is broken for him!
On a happier note we've starting making plans for our trip to Italy, just me and my Dad. He's always wanted to go (he taught himself Italian about 20+ years ago) and life is so short so I've decided to take my dad to Italy in a few months (thank goodness for frequent flyer points). I don't want to make this post 17 pages long so I'll post more news on that on another day. Meanwhile, if you've been to Italy and there is something we just HAVE to see, please let me know. I'm open to suggestions.
One of the fun things we did recently was take a fantastic family vacation. My Father-In-Law, a retired Bishop, has been taking services on the beautiful island of St. Barths for the past 25 years so we all gathered there to attend a big celebration in his honor. It was fantastic to hear the local parishioners and frequent travellers to the island tell us how grand they think my Father-In-Law is.....and I happen to agree with them. Here are a few shots from our vacation.
First, I actually met up with one of my fav customers at the airport in St. Martin. We found out just the day before that we'd be on the same flight. She spent the week sailing and actually spent a day on the island that we were on. We didn't run into her there, but we were on the same flight back to the US. What a coincidence!
Here is a view from our deck, looking into Gustavia Harbor.
Here is a vew from our pool area. It was tiny, but deep and the kids were able to have a blast!
This is a photo of my wee ones with their Granddad.
Cocktails and Dinner with Gene and Mark
An AMAZING sunset
Another wonderful thing we did was attend the 2011 Leukemia Lymphoma Society Ball thanks to our generous friends Lisa and Mark (THANK YOU!!!). As many of you know, one of our daughters was diagnosed with cancer when she was in Kindergarten and again when she was in 1st grade. Its been a rough road but she's now in 3rd grade and doing well. This ball and these friends hold a special place in our hearts. Oh, and one of the best parts of the evening was who we got to 'party with'. We were 10 feet from the amazing Ms. Diana Ross. Check out these photos from the evening.
I've also been busy gathering and organizing paperwork for taxes, watching my oldest daughter's class play, attending a local theater show where my husband did the lighting design, taking another daughter to the doctor for regular follow up visits, caring for another daughter with strep throat, chairing a pre-school auction, attending international night at elementary school, having lots of meetings about an addition we are putting on the house and hitting all the local home improvement places to pick out plumbing, tile, furniture, carpet, lighting, etc. I feel like I haven't been stamping in a while even though I have. Tonight I'm having a workshop with a relatively new customer and I'm REALLY looking forward to it.
I can't have a post without a card, so here is a card that I CASEd from my upline the very creative Anna Haase.
This card shows the Bliss stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment and I used the Big Shot and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder for the card base. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
So, whats been going on with you?? Leave a comment and let me know.
Talk to you soon,
Rose-Ellen
