Gingerbread Man Spinner card using Scentsational Seasons from Stampin' Up!

Happy December My Stamping Friends! I LOVE this time of year, its getting colder outside (well, not today since its heading to 70 degrees in Northern VA!) and the anticipation of Christmas is so much fun. I LOVE making Christmas cards and sending them off to friends and family.

Today I'm sharing a card I made for my stamp club this month. Its a Spinner Card made with the gingerbread man from Scentsational Seasons stamp set from Stampin' Up!.

My card base is gumball green and I used the Stampin' Up! Be of Good Cheer designer series paper for the first layer. I used a layer of very vanilla and then added a layer of cherry cobbler on dimensionals to give it some lift (in order to make the gingerbread man spin, more on that later on). I stamped the sentiment from the Come to Bethlehem stamp set. On a seperate piece of very vanilla cardstock, I stamped the gingerbread man from Scentsational Seasons and cut him out using the coordinating Holiday Collection framelits dies and my Big Shot.

To make the gingerbread man spin, I stuck two pennies together using a dimensional and slid that on the 'track' I punched out with my word window punch. Then I used a dimensional to attach the gingerbread man to the penny stack and away he went. I think this photo might help explain what I just tried to describe.

I topped my gingerbread man off with some basic rhinestones colored with a red sharpie marker (did you know you can color the Stampin' Up! basic rhinestones with sharpie markers??) and I stuck them where his buttons were. Since the rhinestones have a sticky back, they were so easy to add.

The card took less than 10 minutes to make and is a big WOW for kids and adults that haven't see a card spin before. Give it a try and let me know what you end up with. I'd love to check out your creations. Meanwhile, leave some love in the comment section on my blog. It always makes my day.

A Fall Birthday card using Stampin' Up!'s Core'dinations cardstock, Sanding System and the Big Shot

Wow, I can't believe it's been sooooo long since I've posted. The end of summer was so busy with my little lasses and traveling that I was just enjoying my time with them before they all went off to school.  But that doesn't mean I wasn't stamping....I just wasn't blogging. Now that they are all at school, I've been enjoying my time in my craft room and here I am to post a project from the other day.

Yesterday was my darling hubby's birthday and he had to go on a business trip. I only got to see him for a few moments that morning but I had to make sure he had a card before he left on his trip. So, I made this card and had the girls sign it for him before they went to bed just so it was ready and waiting for him in the morning.

So, what do you think? I started with a Stampin' Up! crumb cake base and a layer of the new Core'dinations card stock in Early Espresso. I ran that through the big shot using the new Woodgrain textured embossing folder. I sanded with the Stampin' Sanding Block and was completlely blown away by the awesome Core'dinations Dust Buddy as it picked up every piece of dust and debris I made using the sanding system. I then wrapped a piece of Pool Party Seam Binding around that layer. I went back to my beloved Big Shot and cut out the largest leaf using the Autumn Accents Bigz Die. I markered the Tweet Leaves stamp and put my image directly on the leaf that I cut out and then I adhered it to the card layer with Stampin' Dimensionals. I finished up the card with a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes cut out and layered with the Word Window Punch and the Modern Label Punch.

A Happy Little Accident

Hi there My Stamping Friends, Its been a while since I've posted but all my girls are back in school and it seems that the routine of school busses, snacks, homework, girlscouts, band, preschool co-oping, school volunteering, PTA meetings and Back to School Nights are all under control. Whew! Now, I can get in some more stamping time! Which is perfect because I'm going to the Stampin' Up! Baltimore Regional this weekend and I've got to get working on some swaps. My stamp studio is clean(er) and my darlin' hubby is out of town so I'll have lots of time to stay up late and get some stamping done.

Before I can show you what I've been working on for swaps, I wanted to show you a technique that isn't new, but since I've never tried it before, its new-to-me. Last weekend I was at a downline meeting hosted by my friend Robin Merriman. The cards were fantastic and there was one that I KNEW I was going to CASE as soon as I got home. I'm not sure who made the original card but if it was you, let me know and I'll give you credit here. The card used the 'dryer sheet technique'. I'll attach a photo of the card that we made at Robin's house and then I'll show you what I made at home.

My plan was to CASE (copy the card) but change out the sentiment since I didn't have the same stamp set. Sooooooo...there I was, happily stamping with one of my clubs when my card got a little oopsie (without being reinked, the stamp touched the card stock again along the bottom of the card). Rather than flip it over and start again (which is a perfectly fine thing to do) I decided to add some more trees and make a forest. I actually like the way it turned out. As Bob Ross would say, it was a 'happy little accident'.

To create the card I first stamped the image from the Lovely as a Tree and Four the Holidays stamp sets in Night of Navy ink on Whisper White cardstock. Then I used some adhesive spray on the whisper white and placed a used dryer sheet on top of the adhesive. I trimmed my dryer sheet to the size of the whisper white layer. My dryer sheet was still pretty thick (depending on what brand you use) so I sprayed a little bit more adhesive and covered it in dazzling diamonds glittler. I put brads in the corners and used dimensionals to stick it to the night of navy card base. My Stamping Friends that were in attendace that night LOVED the card and the technique. I hope you do too.
