Stampin' Up! Oven Shaped Cupcake Holder with a BONUS Washing Machine (or Dryer) sample made with my Hispanic Stamping Friends in mind

Hidey-Ho My Stamping Friends, Have you been enjoying spring so far? We have been having some AMAZING weather and I’ve been really enjoying it! Last weekend I went to Christina Crawford’s team meeting and presented a WOW demonstration. Everyone’s definition of a WOW is different so that always poses a challenge for me, plus by the time I’m done creating my WOW I’m often left with the thought that it’s not as cool or as WOW as I think it is. Anyway, I thought I’d show this awesome oven shaped cupcake holder I made for some of my daughter’s teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week and for the end of year gifts for the other teachers. The first time I saw this was at the Hispanic Market Booth at the Stampin’ Up! Convention and I KNEW I had to give it a try. Here is what I came up with:

This is the first one I made:

I used the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Catalog for the dishcloths and burners. For the oven controls, I used the Large Basic Pearls and the Pearl Basic Jewels and colored them with my Blendabilities. That was SOOOOO easy and I can tell I’m going to be coloring a lot of accessories for my future projects.

And here is the next one.

For this I changed the oven controls to a Silver Button from the Basic Metal Buttons and the Candy Dots Brad Bases. I also added a drawer front on this one.

And here is the last one I made.

This one was made with my Hispanic Market Stamping Friends in mind. I turned the basic box on its side and made this into a Washing Machine or maybe its a Dryer. Instead of putting a candle inside, I used baby socks to make a cupcake shape. If I had the new Baby Themed framelits from the upcoming catalog, I would have strung some twine around the sides and back of the washing machine with a few onsies hung on it to decorate it.

I jazzed it up by making the cupcake holder insert from the Stampin’ Up! Glimmer Paper. I also used the Glimmer Paper for the door handle, a circle on the front of the dryer and as some sparkle for the dryer buttons. I love the sparkle.

Oven sides and top: Cut a piece of cardstock to 9x6. Score in half at 3 inches and then turn and score at 3 and 6 inches. Along the 9 inch side, cut at 2 ½ and 6 ½ from the top to the center of the paper. Use my photo as a guide to see what parts to cut off.

Oven bottom and door: Cut a piece of cardstock to 7x4 and score in half (at 3 ½ inches) Then score each side at ½ inch. Use my photo as a guide to see what parts to cut off. Cut out a window for the oven and attach this to the sides and top of the oven.

Insert (cupcake holder): Cut a 3-7/8^th square and score each side at ½ inch. Snip a small ½ oval shape from each side as a finger pull. Cut a circle in the center of the square, for the cupcake to sit in. Adhere the 4 corners and you’re done.

Control Panel: Cut a piece of cardstock to a 3 inch square. Score in half at 1 ½ inches and score again at ½ inch. Attach sticky strip to the ½ inch area. Use the 2 ½ inch area as the control panel and the 3x1 ½ inch area gets attached to the back of the oven.

Stampin' Up! Style Regional Gathering in Northern Virginia - Registration Information

Good Morning My Stamping Friends!

We are about to have a heat wave here in Northern Virginia. My area should get up to the low 50s and considering we've been dealing with single digit temperature for a while, my girls want to put on thier t-shirts and go outside. Right now I'm up and they are still sleeping so I'm snatching a few minutes to post the registration information for the NoVa Stampin' Up! Style Regional Gathering.

Event:

This is a ‘Stampin’ Up! Style’ Regional Event. I hope that gives you an idea of what standards we are shooting for. We want to help you enjoy a wonderful day full of meeting new friends, stamping, learning, sharing, swapping, laughing, eating and more stamping. We are planning lots of fun things for everyone, including but not limited to Main Stage Demonstrator presentations, showing new products from the Occasions Catalog, Sale-A-Bration tips, WOW projects, business ideas, display boards, fresh ideas, Make & Takes, a few surprises ... and more. You won’t want to miss this event. Make sure you bring your notebook, a pen and your camera so you can remember all the fun things we are going to share.

Location:

We will be meeting in the Community Hall of the Dunn Loring Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department located at 2148 Gallows Road, Dunn Loring, VA 22043

Parking:

There is plenty of free parking behind the fire station. Enter through the large double doors in the rear of the building.

Schedule:

8:15 – Doors Open, Name Tag and Welcome Bag pick up begins. Pick your seat, mingle and swap (general swaps or organized swaps)

9:00 – Event Begins so grab your seats

12:00 – (approximate time) Lunch is included in your registration fee

3:30 – The program ends at approximately this time. Now is the time to finish taking photos around the room, gather your things and say good-bye (sniffle, sniffle)

4:00 – the doors close and lock for clean up time

Swapping:

The doors will open at 8:15 and this is the perfect time for swapping. This is an opportunity to meet new people, chat with other demos and pick up a few tips along the way. You are welcome to do general swapping or organized swapping. If you are going to organize a swap and would like me to publish the info for the rest of the group, just let me know. Please remember the main rule of only using current Stampin’ Up! products on your swap.

Registration:

Registration opens for current demonstrators on February 1, 2014. The Registration form information will be available at www.MyStampingFriends.blogspot.com on Saturday, February 1^,2014. This is a date change from the original plan. This is being done because January is a pending month.

If there are spots still available guests (over the age of 18) can register starting on February 13, 2014. Registration ends on March 1, 2014.

We have 125 seats available. If we sell 125 tickets I will start a waiting list. If more seats become available or if someone wants to transfer their ticket I can contact the people on the waiting list to see if they are still interested in attending.

When the doors open you will be able to pick up your name tag and goodie bag and there will be a basket at the check in desk for you to drop in your donated card for the display board and card contest.

Make sure to spread the word about this event. The more friends we get together, the more fun we’ll have. Use hashtag #NoVaStampingFriends on your social media to spread the word and get friends to join you, and when you share photos of the cards you’re bringing for the display boards or photos of your swaps. It makes us easier to find each other on social media.

Display Boards & Card Contest:

Do you want to show off some of your work? Do you want to get some fresh ideas? Bring in some full size cards that you’ve been working on (yes, you can bring in more than one card) and we’ll put them on our display boards. Please bring your full card in a clear envelope with your name and information on a post-it note on the back of the card. Several of these cards will be picked to be finalists in our card contest and the winners will be voted on by the attendees and prizes will be awarded. The cards on the display boards could be used for future events and will get donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

Lunch:

Lunch will be from a local restaurant. There will be water and lemonade available to attendees and there are soda vending machines on site.

What to Bring:

· A notebook and pen

· A camera for photos of displays, photos with your friends, you KNOW you’ll want to post photos of this event.

· Bring snail and scissors for your Make and Takes

· Bring some card samples for the display board

· Bring your swap cards, if you want to swap

· Please remember to label everything you bring so your items won’t get misplaced.

· We cannot really control the temperature in the venue so please dress in layers for your own comfort level

· You must be 18 to attend.

· You must be present to collect any prizes.

· Still photos are encouraged but taking videos is prohibited.

Creations made with the Stampin' Up! Gift Bow Bigz Die

Howdy My Stamping Friends, Happy Thanksgiving Week to you! I've been working on some Christmas Cards for my club meeting and some Stamp-A-Stack cards for next week, but today I'm sharing some fun things I made with the Stampin' Up! Gift Bow Bigz Die.

A few weeks ago, I had the wonderful honor to present at Christina Crawford's team meeting with my friend Sharon Cline. It was so fun chatting with and getting to know these ladies and sharing a few things I've made with the Stampin' Up! Gift Bow Bigz Die.

First, I showed them the regular bow that can be made, using some designer series paper. This bow can be used to create some awesome gift packaging. Then I showed them some other uses for the bow.

I showed them how they could use the bow die on some greeting cards. And depending on which designer series paper you use for the bow, you can make it feminine or masculine. You can make these cards for any occasion such as Mothers Day, Father's Day, birthdays or any celebration. I've showed you these before, in this post, but here are a few more.

I made these with the Brights Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stack, using Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise, and I got the sentiments from Perfectly Penned Stamp set.

Next I showed them how to make another card, one that looks like a wrapped gift box. For this one I used the polka dot pattern from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack and the Holly Jolly stamp from Tags 4 You, punched out with the coordinating Label Bracket Punch. What do you think?

Then I explained how I made this super adorable wedding card by running the cut out bow pieces through different embossing folders. It's hard to see but the black bow was run through the Stripes embossing folder and the white bow was run through the retired Lacy Brocade embossing folder. I also embossed the front layer of the card and then attached the bows to the front layer. I embellished with some basic pearls and added a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes cut out with the modern label punch. I LOVE this card!

Next I described how I made this fantastic napkin ring. I used the small bow from the die and made the loop to go around the napkin. Next I used the Holly Jolly stamp from Tags 4 You and the Label Bracket punch to create the sentiment. Finally I used the Artisan Label Punch to cut a piece of the silver glimmer paper. I cut that punched shape in half and attached it to the back of the sentiment, and I attached that whole piece to the front of the bow/loop/napkin ring. I also explained how to make this neat pair of sunglasses that are just perfect for a summertime scrapbook layout. I cut some Brights Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stack with the largest bow on the die. Then I cut some black paper using the small bow on the die. I stuck the ends of the black piece of the bow into the mosaic punch to get the fancy edge of the 'glasses/frame'. Super simple and you can write some notes about your layout with the White Chalk Marker. Coolio!

I ended the demonstration with a WOW project of Tom the Turkey made with the Gift Bow Bigz Die. I've showed him to you on my facebook page ( www.facebook.com/StampinUpWithRoseEllen ). He wasn't my original idea but he's sooooo super cute that I just couldn't leave him out. I saw him on Facebook from a photo a friend of mine took while she was at a team meeting in Philadelphia so I don't even know the name of the person that actually made him in Philly. Anyway I HAD to give him a try and this is what I ended up with. Isn't he just adorable!! He'll be sitting on my table for the Thanksgiving holiday!

Gingerbread Man Spinner card using Scentsational Seasons from Stampin' Up!

Happy December My Stamping Friends! I LOVE this time of year, its getting colder outside (well, not today since its heading to 70 degrees in Northern VA!) and the anticipation of Christmas is so much fun. I LOVE making Christmas cards and sending them off to friends and family.

Today I'm sharing a card I made for my stamp club this month. Its a Spinner Card made with the gingerbread man from Scentsational Seasons stamp set from Stampin' Up!.

My card base is gumball green and I used the Stampin' Up! Be of Good Cheer designer series paper for the first layer. I used a layer of very vanilla and then added a layer of cherry cobbler on dimensionals to give it some lift (in order to make the gingerbread man spin, more on that later on). I stamped the sentiment from the Come to Bethlehem stamp set. On a seperate piece of very vanilla cardstock, I stamped the gingerbread man from Scentsational Seasons and cut him out using the coordinating Holiday Collection framelits dies and my Big Shot.

To make the gingerbread man spin, I stuck two pennies together using a dimensional and slid that on the 'track' I punched out with my word window punch. Then I used a dimensional to attach the gingerbread man to the penny stack and away he went. I think this photo might help explain what I just tried to describe.

I topped my gingerbread man off with some basic rhinestones colored with a red sharpie marker (did you know you can color the Stampin' Up! basic rhinestones with sharpie markers??) and I stuck them where his buttons were. Since the rhinestones have a sticky back, they were so easy to add.

The card took less than 10 minutes to make and is a big WOW for kids and adults that haven't see a card spin before. Give it a try and let me know what you end up with. I'd love to check out your creations. Meanwhile, leave some love in the comment section on my blog. It always makes my day.

Stampin' Up! Day of Gratitude and Big Shot Die Leaves #2

Hi there My Stamping Friends, I hope you are all enjoying a relaxing day. Its raining here and if you learn anything about me, it's that I love the rain ....and I love my Stampin' Up! Big Shot! Two things on the same day makes for a very happy stamper.

Today I'm going to share two projects with you. The first is a card that I saw on Stampin' Connection (a site for Stampin' Up! demonstrators to chat about Stampin' Up! and to ooh and aah at everyone elses photos and be amazed at some of the creativity out there in the world) and I had to CASE it. I can't remember who made the card or I would thank them. If it was you, let me know and I'll add in a shout out to you.

Stampin' Up! Convention 2011 - WOW Presentation at Hispanic Event

Hi there My Stamping Friends,

I spent the day INSIDE putting labels on more Stampin' Up! catalogs that arrived yesterday, prepping for two stamp clubs that I'm holding on Sunday and sending out more notifications of my new catalog Open House next Friday. The reason I was INSIDE is because it has been hotter than hades in my neck of the woods over the past few days. I didn't leave the house until about 6:30 pm today and the temperature had finally dropped to the mid 90s. Yesterday my car thermometer read 106F. WOW!! It was so hot that after swim team practice my daughter actually wanted to come home to cool down.

Anyway, I'm here today to give some more details about my WOW presentation at the Hispanic Event at the Stampin' Up! Convention 2011. I decided to present the floating reinker technique on a twist card and since I was gearing my presentation towards a Hispanic market I wanted to make sure that I used the colors and stamps that they would appreciate and enjoy. So, here are two samples of my twist card. One shows the floating reinker technique and one is colored with markers.

For this technique I embossed the princess image from the Princesita stamp set on shimmery paper. I then spritzed water all over the image and since the image was so small, I rubbed my finger over the water to make sure it puddled in all the embossed crevices. I then took my aqua painter and picked up drops of reinker in pool party and dipped the aqua painter into the puddled water on the princesita's layerd petticoat. I cleaned the aqua painter and picked up wisteria wonder for the dress, cleaned the aqua painter again and picked up calypso coral and colored the princesita's hair and so on. I embellished the wand and crown by using the 2 way glue pen and fine galaxy gold glitter

I used my Big Shot and the Scallop Circle die, the Clear Circle die and the Scallop Circle #2 die along with my 2-1/2 inch cirlce punch to cut out the card pieces. I attached them together with brads, added circles of shimmer white on the back to cover the brads and to use as a place to write a note to the recipient (sorry, I didn't take a photo of that and the cards are with Stampin' Up! now). The card does fit into a medium size envelope with a slight bend in the flap. There is a supply list at the end of this post if you'd like to know exactly what I used.

Also in the photo are the chocolate nugget candies that I covered by stamping with the Envueltos en deseos stamp set on Avery labels. For one set I stamped with the birthday cake stamp. For the other set I stamped on the avery label with the stamp that looks like a bandaid. Then I stamped the princesita and the frog on a piece of whisper white card stock and colored them both in with markers. I used the small oval punch to punch out the portion of the images that I wanted to showcase and attach them to the label. I wrapped the label around the chocolate nugget and voila.
